Building confidence through competence
The short version
Confidence grows from evidence that you can do the thing. Get reps in, and the confidence tends to follow.
The full version
Confidence comes from evidence
A lot of people wait to feel confident before they start. Usually it works the other way: confidence grows from evidence that you can do the thing.
Ways to build that evidence
Practising a skill. Learning the technique. Completing sessions. Keeping small commitments to yourself. Seeing progress in your logs. Preparing properly before a game, round or match.
Trust, not hype
Rather than waiting to magically "feel confident", you build reasons to trust yourself. On a nervous day, that evidence is still there.
What actually matters
Start where you can win, keep a record, and look back at it. Your workout history is evidence.
Key takeaways
- 01Confidence follows action
